Jess you look amazing!!! I love you and I'm so jealous and I miss you soooo much! Continue having a great time because I love reading about it...muwah! <3
Is that "former administrator of Hong Kong" that gave the speech Mr Tung? If he is, then do you know his father, the late C.Y. Tung was the founder of ISE/SAS back in the 1960's. Mr C.Y. Tung not only put up the money to get ISE/SAS started, he also provided the ship and crew for the program. He even bought the QE-1 for ISE to use as the floating campus. His non-profit SeaWise Foundation has been supporting ISE/SAS ever since (till 2004 when ISE finally got its own ship, the MV Explorer). You can read about Mr Tung in : http://www.semesteratsea.com/aboutus/history.html #5 from 1970 to 2000
When we think about foreign aide, we usually mean America sending money to some third world countries, building schools and library etc. but here is a case when a Chinese form Hong Kong picking up the tabs for our American kid's education. Mr C.Y. Tung's picture used to be hung in the Library onboard the SS Universe and the SS Universe Explorer (he provided both ships for SAS), is it still the case on the MV Explorer?
